The College of Physicians of Philadelphia was founded in 1787 to gather scientific and medical knowledge from the U.S. and abroad, to promote the use of this knowledge for the public welfare, and to encourage the highest standards of professional practice among its members and colleagues.

This legacy endures through our current mission: advancing the cause of health while upholding the ideals and heritage of medicine. Our Mütter Museum, Historic Medical Library, public health outreach programs including Philly Health Info.org,and free lecture series cover the history of American medicine from the 15th century to today.

Your support today helps us to explore the history and future of medicine, promote understanding of contemporary medical issues, and provide the information necessary to navigate a complex and changing health care world.
