Section on Public Health

The Section on Public Health creates a forum for deliberation of relevant issues in public health, and provides information for the development of health policy.  The Section brings together public health professionals from all across the region to study public health problems and assess potential responses. Section events are listed on the College's Calendar of Events. The Section is chaired by Robert G. Sharrar, MD, MSc.


Membership Information
Membership in the Section is open to everyone. Section Members pay dues which go towards the cost of programming and mailings to its members:

Public Health Poster Session 2012

Deadline for submitting proposals has been extended, proposals accepted while space remains.

Each year the Section on Public Health & Preventive Medicine hosts a Public Health Poster Session that showcases regional public health research by students and professionals from public health and related disciplines. This event serves to increase awareness of public health efforts in the Philadelphia region. Poster Session winners will be selected by judges from among the Section on Public Health & Preventive Medicine members. Winners will be provided with a small monetary award and an opportunity to shadow a Philadelphia leader in public health.

Participants must either be a member of the College's Section on Public Health & Preventive Medicine (student membership is free), or be a student at one of the Section’s Institutional Members.

Newly liberated health data has led to a stunning array of health applications built by innovators across the nation. Could this "ecosystem" of data and innovators quickly and cheaply improve the health of Americans?
