Glisson, F.  Anatomia Hepatis (1654).

This work is the first book printed in England to give a detailed account of a single organ based on original research.  It contains the first accurate description of the capsules of the liver (capsula communis or Glisson's capsules) and its blood-supply, a description of the sphincter of the bile duct (Glisson's sphincter or the sphincter of Oddi), and observations on the lymphatics related by George Joycliffe (1621-1658) to Francis Glisson (1597-1677).
